Measuring the performance of a Software Quality Assurance Engineer using Bug count

Some companies evaluate their QA resources on number of defects reported per day. I would say that this is totally irrelevant measure to judge any QA guy performance coz QA guy performance have a lot of other things beyond reported bugs. For example, effective Planning, documentation, handling issues among teams, to resolve the bugs and any kid of issues among QA department and Dev department, analytical skills etc.
